American ethnic food? Yes, it does exist. Barbeque or BBQ is just one of the many ethnic foods that America is known for. Depending on what part of the U.S.A. you’re in, you’ll find a local BBQ to match that region or state’s taste buds. Seattle doesn’t have a BBQ style that we know of but it does have some mighty fine BBQ establishments including Smokin’ Pete’s BBQ in Ballard.

You’ll swoon over the many choices of smoked meat goodness. There’s Singin’ Man Pork Ribs done Memphis-dry rub style. There’s brisket smoked as they say with “14 hours of tender lovin’ care.” There’s a Slow Joe Pork, a Carolina-style pulled pork that will make you close your eyes and wonder if you’ve just died and gone to BBQ heaven. There’s a delightfully smoky BBQ chicken and hot links and Frydiddy Catfish.

All this and their meats are natural and locally sourced. No hormones or antibiotics and all vegetarian feed. Hats off to Smokin’ Pete’s.

Vegetarian? Don’t fret. Smokin’ Pete’s also offers the Beans & Greens Platter: a feast of cowboy beans, dirty rice and collard greens served with cornbread or hushpuppies.

Last but not least, there are pies. Lots of them. What more do you need?

NOTE: Live music every Thursday night.
